Hide or Unhide Profile
Sometimes you might not want your Roommates.com profile to be visible to others, but you still want to keep your account active in case you need it down the road. If so, no problem! You can accomplish this by hiding your profile.
To hide your profile:
- Login to your account.
- Click on your circular profile picture in the top right-hand corner of the page.
- Click "Profile" in the Notification Menu below.
- Look for the text which reads, "Your profile is live... want to hide it?".
- Click the Want to hide it? text to hide your profile.
- Your profile should automatically update to indicate that your profile is hidden.
Hiding your profile will delay any automatic deactivation countdowns from beginning for 3 months! Please see our Deactivating Your Account page for more info.
To Unhide your profile:
- Login to your account.
- Click on your circular profile picture on the top right-hand corner of the page.
- Click "Profile" in the Notification Menu below.
- Look for the text which reads, "Your profile is hidden... want to make it live?"
- Click the "Want to make it live?" text to unhide your profile.
- Your profile should update and now indicate that your profile is live.
Please note: hiding your profile will prevent it from being visible to any user of the site (including users that you have exchanged messages with!). Your profile will not appear in search results, and other users will receive a "Profile Not Found" error if they attempt to access your profile directly. It goes without saying that hiding your profile can decrease the amount of responses you receive from other users, so we strongly recommend using this feature mindfully in order to help ensure that it does not negatively impact your search for the perfect roommate.
