How do I edit my Location Preferences?

Up to three city/state location preferences can be set in each "I Need a Room" account. A corresponding range between 5-50 miles can be configured around each city/state location preference, enabling you to customize your area of interest around each location.

Location preferences can be set while initially creating your Roommates.com profile, or they can be adjusted anytime after your profile is initially created. We'll review each procedure below:

To set your Location Preferences while creating your Roommates.com profile:

  • The first page of the Profile Creation prompt contains a section titled "Where are you headed?". In the text box beneath the map, simply enter the city or zip code for the location you wish to add, and click the appropriate result in the drop-down menu below.

  • Next, click the "Range" drop-down menu to the right of the location preference you just set, and select the appropriate range you wish to limit your location preference to.
  • To add an additional location preference, simply click "Add" in the section below next to text which reads, "Broaden your horizons by adding more locations!".
  • To delete any location preferences, simply click the "X" icon next to the "Range" drop-down menu.
  • Once you're finished, click/tap "Save" at the bottom, and proceed to the next page of information required to set up your Roommates.com profile.

To edit your Location Preferences after your Profile has been created:

  • Login to your Roommates.com account.
  • Click/tap your circular profile picture in the upper-right, and then click/tap "Profile" in the Notification Menu below.
  • Click/tap "Edit Profile" near the top of the page.
  • Adjust your location preferences through the "Where" tab using the steps outlined above:
    • Enter a city/state location or a zip code in the text box, and click/tap the appropriate result in the drop-down menu below.
    • Set a range around that location using the "Range" drop-down menu.
  • Once you're finished, click/tap "Save" at the bottom of the page.
