How can I take a screenshot?
Our Support Team may request a "screenshot" of what you're seeing while troubleshooting a reported issue. A screenshot is a digital image which captures what's displayed on a computer, smartphone, or other device screen at a specific moment in time.
Screenshots are valuable troubleshooting tools because they enable our Support Team to see what you are seeing on your end; this information can help us diagnose the problem you are experiencing and work towards a recommended solution.
The process for taking a screenshot depends on the type of device you're using:
Windows (PC)

The Modern Way (Recommended): Press
Windows + Shift + S. Your screen will dim, and you can drag your mouse to select the area you want to capture. The image is saved to your Screenshots folder and copied to your clipboard.The Full Screen Way: Press the
PrtScn(Print Screen) key. - Windows 11: This will automatically open the Snipping Tool.
- Windows 10: This copies the screen to your clipboard; you will need to paste it (
Ctrl + V) into an email or an app like Paint to save it.
macOS (Mac)
- Full Screen: Press
Shift + Command + 3. The image will be saved to your desktop. - Selected Area: Press
Shift + Command + 4. Your cursor will turn into a crosshair; click and drag to select the part of the screen you want to capture.
iPhone/iPad
- Models with Face ID: Press the Side button and the Volume Up button at the same time.
- Models with a Home Button: Press the Home button and the Side/Top button at the same time.
- The screenshot will appear as a thumbnail in the bottom-left corner. Tap it to save or share.
Android
- Standard Method: Press the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously.
- Gesture Method: Many modern Android devices allow you to swipe down with three fingers to take a capture. Check your Settings > Shortcuts & Gestures to see if this is enabled.
Once you’ve saved your image:
- Compose an email to our support team using your account email address. The email should be sent to support@roommates.com.
- Use the "Attach" (paperclip) icon to select the screenshot from your files or gallery.
- Include a brief description of what was happening when the screenshot was taken.
